Looking for a fun family outing? Bring the family on down to the Coopersville Farm Museum on Wednesday August 5, 2009 for an indoor petting zoo! Learn how to approach, hold, and the basics of animal safety as taught by people of the community. If you or your child has an animal you would like to share for the day call the Coopersville Farm Museum and get involved! Rain or shine this event will happen! All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate in sharing their knowledge or learning something new! You never know what types of animals will show up. In the past we have had: goats, chickens, roosters, cows, mini horses, kittens, puppies, mice, rats, sheep, and so much more!
Meet Cookie. She is a Netherlands Dwarf Black Broken-Spot Rabbit. Because her markings are faint, she is called a "Charlie".
The museum holds a petting zoo each spring, which led to finding an animal for an interactive exhibit. Cookie arrived the spring of 2004, a tiny 4 week old bunny gift from Tractor Supply Company. A special play area allowed her the freedom to romp, play, and interact with delighted visitors. Cookie played checkers according to "Rabbits Rules of Order;" hopping about a giant checkerboard. How she loved to send checkers flying, or stack them, or bounce on the stacks knocking them down! She became "THE Bunny with an attitude."
She had definite ideas about being picked up. Touch her little wiggle of a nose and she struck and gr-r-r-owled. A quick nibble met "GET!" Sadly, even queens don't live forever. On October 6, 2008 heart problems sent her to nibble the soft green grass forever growing by the Rainbow Bridge. What a swat those quick front paws will give those of us who loved her when we meet again!

The subject matter for the 2009 contest is Michigan’s Bounty. Photos, paintings, drawings & three dimensional
creations of images found
of this subject matter in West Michigan’s rural communities.
Preschoolers to seniors, beginning artists to professionals,
classrooms, families, everybody is welcome to enter this contest.

Hosted by local residents, FFA & 4H members. This is an opportunity for young people in our community to share their expertise with visitors and introduce novices to small and baby farm animals and unique pets. They will learn how to approach and hold animals and the basics of animal safety.
$2.00 admission per person
Members and Children under 3 are free!

This is a great time to visit. Stop on by the Coopersville Farm Museum to see a large display of different kinds of tractors. There is interactive farm equipment that is fun for all ages.
This years feature is going to be the Farmall and HitandMissEngines, all colors and implements are welcome!

Hosted by the Coopersville Antique Tractor Society (C.A.T.S.)
CATS meets on the fourth (4th) Wednesday of each month. We are always looking for new members who are as crazy about tractors as we are. Wednesday, August 5 ~ Summerfest* POWDER PUFF Lawn Tractor COMPETITION ~ 5pm Powder Puff lawn mower competition begins at 5 pm Wednesday and is open to all women & girls. Lawn tractors/mowers must have mower deck deactivated. Under 18 must have a signed permission from parent or legal guardian. Trophies will be presented by the Coopersville Antique Tractor Society. Please let us know if you want to borrow a tractor for this event.
Thursday, August 6 ~ Summerfest* SKILLED DRIVING Lawn Tractor OBSTACLE COURSE
Obstacle course competition begins at 5 pm on Thursday for all men & boys. Tractors must have mower decks deactivated. Under 18 must have a signed permission from parent or legal guardian. Trophies will be presented by the Coopersville Antique Tractor Society following the competition.

Entries are accepted mid-October with the entries displayed mid-November
through mid-January.
The subject matter for the 2009 contest is MICHIGAN'S BOUNTY.We accept photos, paintings, drawings & three dimensional
creations of images that you might find of this subject matter in West Michigan's rural communities.
Entries (framed & ready to
hang) can be brought to the Coopersville Farm Museum, 375 Main Street, Coopersville,
MI 49404 - Mid-October. There is a $2 entry fee for each item.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: preschool
photo, preschool art, lower elementary photo, lower elementary
art, upper elementary photo, upper elementary art, junior high
photo, junior high art, high school photo, high school art, adult
photo, adult art, digitally enhanced photos (no matter what your
age - all digitally enhance photos will go in this category),
professional photo, professional art & 3-D farm layouts (if
there are more than 3 - otherwise they will go into the appropriate
age category for "art").
Sponsors of this contest include many area businesses.
Past support has been provided by: Family Fare Spartan Stores,

Every December Mrs. Claus visits the museum and fills us in on what Santa has been up to. She and her helpers invite visitors to decorate Christmas cookies and enjoy making Christmas crafts.
Candy Cane Lane is open December 1 - 19, 2009
Enjoy decorating Christmas cookies and making Christmas crafts in Candy Cane Lane. Mrs. Claus is available for groups with reservations by request (fee applies). Her helpers will assist you with projects when she’s not available.
Great outing for groups of all ages. Meet old friends at Candy Cane Lane or get together with family and friends. (Groups of more than four may want to call ahead!) Get in the spirit of the season while listening to Christmas carols and taking a stroll through the beautifully decorated museum.
$7.50 per person (reservations required).
Lunch includes prepared sub sandwiches, chips, a side dish or

ANNUAL GINGERBREAD HOUSE DISPLAY
Friday, December 4, 2009 5pm - 7pm
Special Hours from 5-7 pm, before the Santa Parade on the first Friday in December (visit www.coopersville.com), come in and view all the locally made Gingerbread Houses!
Entries accepted Tuesday through Friday, 10am - 2pm. Call the museum if you need to make other arrangements to get your entry in. Gingerbread houses are displayed through the month of December. No fee to enter . . . all entries must be picked up during the first week of January or they will be disposed of. 2009 Gingerbread House entries may be dropped off on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday between 10am - 2pm, December 1 - 4, 2009.

C.A.T.S. puts on the Annual Tractor Show each August during Summerfest in the Coopersville Farm Museum parking lot. Last year our show consisted of 84 tractors of all shapes and sizes. Each year our show grows and grows. The community participation is amazing and we are grateful to be able to put on this event for the community.

What
started as a group of Crazy Quilters has become the group known
as the "Crazy Ladies". Every Thursday morning at 10
am, the ladies all gather together at the Farm Museum and share
ideas, crafts, crazy quilt stitches & more. Come

This event
is a hugely popular activity at the Museum and this year celebrates it's Five Year Anniversary! Corky Pals &
Peg Becker, part of the country band called Calico,
began hosting a twice monthly Jam Night in February, 2004. Word spread like wildfire through the world of musicians and now the first and third Tuesday of every month new faces and instruments continually appear.
Our friend Corky Pals has since passed away but Jam Night carries on in his honor. Corky's vision was to establish a place where area musicians could gather to play and enjoy folk music played on various forms of acoustic instraments. Jam Night gives people something to do that is affordable
and entertaining.
Suitable for all ages, groups like the Kramer family
enjoy the opportunity to perform together. From harmonica to
bass, guitars & banjos, fiddles & mandolins, accordions
& even dulcimers, any acoustic instrument you can imagine
might show up. We've even had unique performances from people like David
Strong & Tom Eno. David carries his own one-man band and
a board for clogging, and Tom plays a SAW! With instruments to
shake, rattle, or roll, visitors are encouraged to join in too.
So whether you play an instrument, want to sing some songs, or
just want to listen, come on down and join the fun at the Coopersville
Farm Museum every 1st & 3rd Tuesday from 6:00 pm - 9 pm.

for you to meet. For your best rate, check to see if one of our
meeting areas is available during regular business hours. (starting
at only $50) Outside of regular business hours, the same space
may be reserved for your group starting at $100, when available. Keep us in mind
for showers, birthday parties, reunions, anniversary parties,
